Norfolk civil rights leader Milton Reid dies at 80

NORFOLK Milton Reid often recalled walking with other black children to school in segregationist Norfolk County while white students enjoyed the privilege of school buses. When they rode by, white children sometimes spit and yelled at Reid and his friends. The slight helped turn Reid into a fighter of racial injustice that ended only with his death Sunday.

Goddess Worship

Nearly 20 local women plan to open an Ashland Goddess Temple dedicated to the "sacred feminine" in a dome at Jackson Wellsprings north of town. The temple, founded by Graell Corsini and 18 others, will open under a full moon on the spring equinox, the women say.
